How we are funded

Mental Health Media has a number of sources of income: grants or sponsorship for projects; income from our production and training services; sponsorship for our annual awards; and income from the sale of our resources.

We actively seek sponsorship from and partnership with businesses or organisations which promote a range of options in treatment of mental health, encourage positive mental health, and work against stigma.

Mental Health Media assesses potential corporate sponsors and funders using the Corporate Critic Database. This offers us an independent and objective assessment of any potential funder or sponsor before a decision is made. In particular, it helps to identify companies which breach the criteria below.

We do not wish to obtain sponsorship from companies who discriminate against people with mental health problems or learning difficulties.

We do not wish to obtain sponsorship from companies that endanger human health, animal welfare or the environment.

We do not wish to obtain sponsorship from companies which work against human rights as set out in the European Convention on Human Rights or which support or supply armaments to oppressive regimes which work against human rights.

Although we do not refuse funding from pharmaceutical companies, we recently tested six major companies against our ethical criteria and found none to be acceptable. As a result of this exercise, we do not intend to seek any funding from this source for the foreseeable future.

Recently we have worked with the following organisations:
